Culture & the General Welfare Law The IRS enables a lot of tax-free transactions. Unfortunately, the accounting department inappropriately feels they are required to report a specific group of those and leave it up to the Tribal vendors to convince the IRS that their income should not have been reported as taxable. If elected I’ll propose legislation that will implement a list of approved Tribal Vendors whose goods and services shall not be reported to the IRS and a process to approve the additions to the vendor list. It will cover services like traditional teachings, cultural teachings and activities, culturally appropriate items and a method of approving a list of such items.
