Honoring our Veterans

Long ago we passed a resolution authorizing a Veterans Memorial. It got as far as a committee that discussed where, type, what would be on it and who it would memorialize. There was no consensus and the idea died on the vine. The second time it came up it got as far as a likeness of a statute. Not sure why, but that idea died on the vine too. So, I’d like to bring the idea back to the floor. We currently have a group of Veterans that might be willing to head the process. There are many Veteran memorials in the surrounding counties yet, we don’t have one. Anyway, as much as we claim to honor our Veterans, I think we should have at least a stone with a plaque somewhere people can see it. I’ll seek advice from the Veterans group and put out a survey in the newsletter and proffer another resolution that might have a better chance of getting the job done.
